The Cat's Travel Guide: Long Shan Temple

*Why you should go to Long Shan Temple
Long Shan Temple is one of largest and oldest temple in Taiwan. Located in the old Taipei city center, while whispering your wishes to the gods, you can also walk around the old neighborhood, experiencing the faded glory from the old time.

*How to get there?
By MRT
Take the MRT to Long Shan Temple station by blue line, then you're there!!

P.S
There's 2 things you should do when you're around the area:

1. Fortune Teller: There's A LOT of fortune tellers have their own stands around Long Shan Temple, so if you don't mind to see your future earlier, then you should check it out.
Probably they will send a bird to tell you what your future will be!!

2.Notorious Snake Soup: It's already too scary to see the snake alive and crawling in front of you, have you ever think about how those creature taste like? The Hua-xi night market has the special snake soup you can always try. The snake soup doesn't come alone. Before you drink the soup, you need to take some shots like those in the picture first. Wondering what they put in the shot glasses? I guess you just need to find out by yourself!!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!!

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, Zhongqiu Festival, or in Chinese, Zhongqiujie (中秋節), is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese people, dating back over 3,000 years to moon worship in China's Shang Dynasty. It was first called Zhongqiu Jie (literally "Mid-Autumn Festival") in the Zhou Dynasty. In Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, which is usually around late September or early October. The traditional food of this festival is the moon cake, a small cake filled with many different types of fillings. In Taiwan, we barbeque outdoors with family and friends.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the few most important holidays in the Chinese calendar, and is a legal holiday in Taiwan. Farmers celebrate the end of the summer harvesting season on this date. Traditionally, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomelos (similar to a grapefruit) under the moon together. Along with these customs, we celebrate several others, including:

Putting pomelo rinds on one's head

Burning incense out of respect for figures including Chang'e

Collecting dandelion leaves and giving them to family members

Fire Dragon Dances

In Taiwan, since the 1980s, barbecuing meat outdoors has become a widespread way to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Entrance: 350 NTD for entrance (with 200 drink coupon), but on Wednesday is free.

When those clubs still playing the Hip-hop, or some techno music, where you can find a decent place to enjoy rock 'n' roll? Not only just sit there with a beer and listening to "sweet child o' mine", but also dance with it? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to "ROXY 99".

Roxy 99 has been in Taipei night life scene for over 10 years, and the difference of Roxy 99 and other place in Taipei, is the "MUSIC" itself. Make sure you get there before 9:30 and you will score two tickets good for a bottle of Carlsberg each. We HEARTs TCP(3)!!!!-Sweet world from our guests!!

WE DO REALLY LOVE OUR GUESTS!!
Another 2 guest left us some really sweet words to show us their love on www.tripadvisor.com,
check it out!!

"Great deal, awesome location, friendly people and modern decor-

With minimal Mandarin language ability, I was in need of a cheap place near Shida where I could stay until I found an apartment.

This place has it all: location, a good deal, and best of all, amazing people. Many young people all over the world stay here and it's very friendly and welcoming. People not staying at the hostel would even drop by to hang out by the kitchen and lounge area.

The decor is modern and clean. There's laundry service and you can even cook in the very nice kitchen. Being a stone's throw away from Shida's famous night market, it's in an ideal location. One can also hope the Taipower MRT to travel and do touristy things. The hostel people are also very friendly and helpful should you need any help.

Oh and free internet with AC. Doesn't get much better than that.

~azurehook from Taipei"

"Become The Cat's Pajamas' Fan!!-

I loved this place and so will you! The place is very easy to find and is conveniently located near the Taipower MRT station, giving you access to the whole city. There are cafes, convenience stores, restaurants, etc. all within walking distance. The neighborhood is safe (I suppose most all of Taiwan is pretty safe!) and not noisy at all.

The place is warm, modern, and welcoming by both guests and operators. The vibe is very good, facilities are superb, but oddly enough, I didn't see any cats or their pajamas!

When I return to Taiwan, this is where I'm staying. You should too!

~bishop341b from San Francisco"

AWWWWWWWWWW~
The Cat's Pajamas will never be where we are without you cute, sweet, and lovely guests.

COME BACK SOON!!
