The Cat's Hidden Spots(2) - Bitan

Dear travellers in Taiwan, after traveling around Taipei, have you been to the beautiful lake in Xindian District? The lake is called ''Bitan''.

Bitan literally means Green Lake, referring to where the Xidian River widens to from the lake.

When you visit Bitan, other than the beautiful scenery and bridge, there are many outdoor activities you can visit with your friends. There are Swan Paddles you can hire for 30mins to 1 hours on the lake, its great fun and also a good way to exercise. When you need a break, you may want to enjoy some food or a cup of coffee in one of the many restaurants and café right above the river bank. There are also many Taiwanese food stands and shops around, maybe I will save some for you to explore!!

How to get to Bitan?

Catch the MRT to Xingdian(新店), the terminal station on Green line.

The Cat's Travel Guide: Shenkeng (深坑)

*Why you should go to Shenkeng?
Check out the old street and eat local food. Also, Shenkeng has been identified with "TOFU", people even call it "The Tofu Capital" of Taiwan. Beside trying the best tofu in this country, what else I should say?

*How to get there?
By Bus and Subway
You can take the subway to Gong Guan station on green line, then take the bus number 660 and get off at Shenkeng stop; also you can just take the bus 236 from either Taipei Main Station or wherever, then get off at the last stop.

P.S
Shenkeng is a cool town to visit, but probably not that kind of place you should hang out for 1 day. So we strongly suggest that beside visiting Shenkeng, you check out the area close by, such as the AMAZING Taipei Zoo. Think about it: after the stop at the zoo, you probably don't want to eat any more meat after watching those creatures happily jumping around. At this moment, nothing is better than a silky, warm plate of tofu showing up on your dinning table, isn't it?
